Artist: Niall Horan Song: The Tide Album: Flicker Key: E minor BPM: 135 Tabbed by: Matty Sievers This is the song he's been opening the tour with and it's another bloody ripper of a song! I've included a more detaield strumming pattern for the intro and verses progression below just to guide people who might not like using UG's built in one and also so there was no confusion over what chords go where. Essentially you hit the 1, the off beat of the 2 and the 4 and then do that exact same thing. The jump from playing the off beat of the 2 to the 4 back to the 1 might be jarring for some but it's pretty clear once you get the feel for the song and let the groove guide you. Just remember that the Em and the C are only played those first two strums and then the G and D carry over the bar. The verses also can be broken up into an A and B. A where Niall starts the line after the first beat and then B where he sings on the accents and the beat. Read how I've spaced the lyrics and chords and listen to the song and you'll understand what I mean. The refrain and bridge are also the same progression as the chorus. So each chord goes for two bars. -------------------------------- Intro & Verse Strumming Pattern: -------------------------------- Strums * * * * * * 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + | 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + Strums w/ Chords Em Em G G G G 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + | 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + C C D D D D 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + | 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + -------------------------------- Chords Used: -------------------------------- Em G C D D/F# e|-0-----3----0-----2-----2--------------------------------------| B|-0-----0----1-----3-----3--------------------------------------| G|-0-----0----0-----2-----2--------------------------------------| D|-2-----0----2-----0-----0--------------------------------------| A|-2-----2----3-----------x--------------------------------------| E|-0-----3----------------2--------------------------------------| ------------------------------- Song ------------------------------- [Intro] Em G C D Em G C D [Verse 1] Em G Oh no, yeah yeah C D I feel it coming, it's coming again Em G Stay close and don't stop C D Cause I don't wanna go, want it to end Em G Close my eyes, C D Crying in a crowded bar Em G And every time we get this close C D/F# It's always pulling us apart [Chorus] C Don't let the tide come and wash us away Am Don't let the tide come and take me Em Just want a safe place to hide us away D Don't let the tide come and take me C Don't let the tide come and wash us away Am Don't let the tide come and take me Em Far from with you where I wanna stay D So don't let the tide come and take me Em G C D [Verse 2] Em G Oh no, yeah yeah C D I feel it coming, it's coming again Em G Don't give up, and don't laugh C D Cause I'm needing you to understand Em G When I go, C D All I ever seem to fear Em G Is that you're gonna find someone C D/F# And slowly watch me disappear [Chorus] C Don't let the tide come and wash us away Am Don't let the tide come and take me Em Just want a safe place to hide us away D Don't let the tide come and take me C Don't let the tide come and wash us away Am Don't let the tide come and take me Em Far from with you where I wanna stay D So don't let the tide come and take me [Refrain] C Oh no, yeah yeah Am Yeah, I feel it coming, Em It's coming again stay close and don't stop D Cause I don't wanna go, want it to end yeah [Bridge] C Am Cause I don't wanna go, want it to end Em D/F# [Chorus] C Don't let the tide come and wash us away Am Don't let the tide come and take me Em Just want a safe place to hide us away D Don't let the tide come and take me C Don't let the tide come and wash us away Am Don't let the tide come and take me Em Far from with you where I wanna stay D So don't let the tide come and take me
